Step 3: What Does a Fun Factor Habit Feel Like?

 Step 3:
What does a Fun Factor
habit look like?

The habit that we need to create is simply to pay attention to the five fundamentals. It’s that simple. It is the matter of focusing on those fundamentals and asking questions about them. For example, reflecting on whether you are truly self objective will help you pay attention to the fundamental of humility. Or, asking yourself whether you are being attracted to positive influences in your life will help you pay attention to the fundamental of attitude. Watching a comedy on TV instead of the drama channel that you usually watch might be a good way to strengthen a sense of the Essential Attribute HUMOR. Small, seemingly insignificant events that you do frequently can also influence your focus on the Fun Factor habit. Consider how changing your password to something humorous, or thankful, or positive can have a profound effect on allowing your thoughts to focus on the fundamental and feed the habit. When the thought is created (need access to my computer), and an action is taken to convey that thought, (recall the Fun Factor fundamental), it becomes part of your behavior and your habit.

There are other fun things you can do as well. Recently I stole my wife's lipstick for just long enough to write the words “Thank You!” and “Be Fun” on the bathroom mirror. On the other corner I drew a happy face.. Every time I look in the mirror I see my words and I see my smiley face. Each time I see it I am embracing the Fun Factor habit. Do you see how small and seemingly insignificant efforts can go toward embracing this habit and how it can lead you to create a more fun self?

Clearly, habits become lifestyles the more frequently we access them. While there's nothing painful about utilizing the Fun Factor habit, it is something that you need to pay attention to frequently. That's what habits are all about. Therefore, I have created a planner book which helps keep the fundamentals in the forefront of your daily life. When I began to embark on my own formation of Fun Factor habits, I used a separate book focusing on the fundamentals. However, in my daily routine I found it difficult to refer to the Fun Factor planner. It was an unnatural process to go from what I was doing the opening up the “Fun” book, as I called it, to address the fundamentals. However, when I integrated my daily planner with a few of the elements of the fundamentals, The habit was right in my face. I was able to do both at once. I could plan my day, take notes about my day, and refer to the Essentials all in the same thought. It became natural. To this day, I use the same planner format, and it works, even if I make no entries into the Fun Factor sections. Sometimes, the Fun Factor sections beckon me to write something more, and I do.

And the Fun Factor habit continues, as does the phenomenal successes and joys that go along with it.
